Melbourne Football Academy's Dutch Partners are back to visit in 2024
Melbourne Football Academy proudly welcomed our Dutch partners from the SoccerPLAY Program in September 2024, for the fifth time as part of our exclusive training camp.
Throughout the training camp, Dutch coaches David Zonneveld and Ronald Offerman, from Amsterdam, Netherlands, worked alongside Melbourne Football Academy's Football Excellence students, delivering an immersive program founded on the renowned Dutch football philosophy. Their return to Melbourne reflects the strength of the long-standing relationship between Melbourne Football Academy and SoccerPLAY, while providing students with the opportunity to learn from coaches who understand both our players and our development pathway.
Having visited Melbourne on multiple occasions, our partners have established strong foundations with our players and coaching staff. Their continued involvement enables them to build upon previous programs, reinforcing key technical and tactical principles while further developing individual players year after year. Hosting our Dutch partners at Melbourne Football Academy's Training Centre creates a unique environment where international expertise is integrated into the daily learning experience, ensuring consistency across both football and education.
This training camp also marks another important milestone, celebrating twelve years of partnership between Melbourne Football Academy and SoccerPLAY (formerly known as Ajax Online Academy). Throughout this collaboration, Melbourne Football Academy has continued to implement a world-renowned football philosophy and education system directly into its Football curriculum, providing students with access to internationally recognised coaching methodologies and player development practices. The SoccerPLAY partnership plays a vital role in expanding Melbourne Football Academy's holistic approach to player development. Beyond enhancing technical ability and tactical understanding, the program encourages players to develop leadership, communication, decision-making, resilience and professionalism — qualities that contribute to success both on and off the field. By combining football education with personal growth, students are equipped with the skills and mindset required to thrive in all aspects of their development.
Opportunities such as this training camp are fundamental to Melbourne Football Academy's commitment to delivering a complete football education program. Working alongside experienced European coaches exposes students to diverse perspectives, innovative coaching methods and a broader understanding of the game, while strengthening the Academy's international connections and reinforcing its commitment to excellence.
